Children's Privacy Notice (COPPA)

Last updated April 25, 2026

Go Participate is used by youth-sports teams and players, including children under the age of 13. This notice explains how we comply with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA") and what rights parents and legal guardians have over their children's information.

How children's information enters the platform

Children do not create accounts on Go Participate. A parent or legal guardian creates a family account and adds their child as a player profile. By doing so, the parent or guardian provides verifiable consent for the collection and use of that child's information for the operation of the Service.

What we collect about a child

  • Name, date of birth, gender
  • Photo (when uploaded by the guardian)
  • Sport positions, jersey number, sizing
  • Emergency contact info and medical notes the guardian provides
  • Documents (birth certificate, medical clearance, etc.) — encrypted in the browser before upload; we cannot read them
  • Optional direct contact (phone / email) for older children, when the guardian provides it
  • Attendance, RSVP, and game stats from teams the child plays on

What we don't collect

  • We do not show advertising and we do not collect data for behavioral advertising
  • We do not require children to disclose more information than is reasonably necessary to participate in their team's activities
  • We do not knowingly collect information from a child without a verified parent or guardian's consent

How we share children's information

Children's information is shared only with the organizations, teams, and leagues a parent or guardian has explicitly joined or registered the child with. Coaches and admins of those teams can see the child's profile, attendance, and other team-relevant details. Information is never sold or shared with advertisers.

Parental rights

As a parent or legal guardian, you have the right to:

  • Review the personal information we have collected about your child
  • Correct or update that information at any time from the Family portal
  • Delete your child's profile, which removes them from team rosters and deletes their personal data
  • Refuse further collection by deleting the child's profile or your family account

To exercise these rights outside of the in-app controls, email privacy@goparticipate.com from the email address associated with your account.

Document vault and child data

Documents uploaded to the family vault (birth certificates, medical forms, etc.) are encrypted in your browser using a key derived from your password before they leave your device. We cannot read them. When you grant a league or organization time-limited access for verification, that grant can be revoked at any time from your account.

Data retention

We retain children's information only as long as needed to provide the Service for that child's family. When you delete a child's profile, we remove the personal data; some operational records (e.g., league compliance decisions about whether a roster was approved) may be retained in anonymized form as required by league rules.
